Our stance on climate

Climate change is the most urgent and significant threat that we face.

It threatens to dissolve cultures, dismantle contemporary society, harm the life and livelihoods of billions, and destabilise the health of our planet.

It is the defining issue of our time.

We recognise the evidence-based climate science as set out by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the broader scientific community.

Human activities are the principal driver of higher greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations in the atmosphere leading to significant changes to our planet.

We have a collective responsibility to make immediate, rapid and large-scale reductions in GHG emissions, and pursue all efforts to limit global temperature increases to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Failure to do so will deny future generations their livelihood and have untold impacts on all life on our planet.

We all stand to lose.

While Currie is a small business with a small footprint,  we see it as our responsibility to help address the climate crisis in whatever way we can.

We have set validated science-based targets to reduce our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 and achieve net zero across all scopes by 2050. We are taking action on these targets through our Net Zero plan.

We support our clients in their mission to create a more sustainable world. We help them advocate for change, collaborate to tackle systemic issues, and connect them with influential people.

We recognise that decarbonisation can lead to inequitable social outcomes to different groups. Vulnerable groups must be supported along the way to achieve a just transition.

For change to happen, we need all actors – multinationals, corporates, small and medium sized businesses, and individuals – in the system to take action. We are all part of a global community and share a common future. All effort is meaningful. And we all have the privilege and responsibility to help create a better world.
