The challenge

Environmental DNA has the power to track and understand our natural world – at scale and speed – to inform improved decision making.

Melbourne-based EnviroDNA is at the forefront of eDNA research and application in Australia, providing services to government and industry that innovate how they gather biodiversity data.

Having recently revisited its strategic plan, EnviroDNA wanted to update how it explained its value and services.

Approach

A company that specialises in highly technical science delivery, EnviroDNA had an opportunity to recraft its narrative so as to connect with target audiences and define its point of difference.

Working with the EnviroDNA team, Currie reviewed the company’s strategic documents and had in-depth conversations with key leaders in the business.

This preparatory work helped us define the specific audiences for EnviroDNA services and what makes EnviroDNA stand out from the crowd.

Then drawing on our story-telling experience, we refreshed the company’s vision and mission statements – capturing what EnviroDNA does today, and what it hopes to achieve in the future.

Expanding on these, we crafted a succinct corporate narrative that shares the company’s history, technology and purpose, and defines EnviroDNA’s value proposition for relevant markets.

Reconnecting with the EnviroDNA team, we then tested and refined these foundation pieces with leadership and provided recommendations for how they could be shared and used by the full team.

Results

Today EnviroDNA has a corporate narrative and message house that clearly speaks to impact and value of the business, and simply articulates how the company goes about its highly specialised work.

These foundational communication materials demonstrate why EnviroDNA is a great partner for any business or organisation wanting to understand the environment in which they operate.

The message house provides the company’s marketing and business development activity with a consistent message to support brand reputation, and gives the EnviroDNA team a foundation from which to share their story.

Client testimonial

The Currie team were wonderful to work with. Along with being authentic and great humans, they invested time in truly understanding our needs, adapted along the way, collaborated face to face and promptly to reach outcomes. With their approach of working hand in hand with us, we achieved more than originally anticipated.

They clearly love what they do and showed genuine interest in what we do and what we are trying to achieve. Their special sauce was being able to meet us at our scientific and technical space.

Thank you Laura and Susan for your help so far and looking forward to more work together.
