Responsible product stewardship is key to unlocking potential in Australia’s circular economy. Regulated under a national scheme, end of life electrical and electronic devices are one of the fastest growing waste streams in the country. ANZRP is working to ensure all Australians have access to free, easy and safe e-waste recycling.
Currie developed a full-service strategic communications and implementation plan for ANZRP, to re-establish their voice as the market leader for sustainable e-stewardship.
Australia and New Zealand Recycling Platform (ANZRP) is Australia’s leading e-waste stewardship provider and the only not-for-profit co-regulatory arrangement under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS). ANZRP manages the national TechCollect service on behalf of its members, which provides Australian households and small businesses with safe, free and easy collection and recycling of end-of-life e-products.
To help build its profile in the e-stewardship space, ANZRP enlisted Currie to reinvigorate their communications and marketing strategy and provide strategic and tactical support to implement this.
Providing a full-service communications and advocacy service, Currie developed a new strategic communications and advocacy plan for ANZRP, and led its execution.
Using our deep knowledge of the waste and e-stewardship policy space, we created materials for ministerial meetings and submissions to advocate for a more effective national e-stewardship scheme.
Looking to build ANZRP’s profile in the waste space, Currie supported their presence at industry conferences and in quarterly member forums, developing promotional material and talking points. Strategic media outreach was also used to elevate ANZRP’s position in this space. Currie also led ANZRP’s submission which won them the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence Best Collective Scheme Award in 2023.
Currie provided tactical support for both internal and external communications to members, partners and staff. This included revitalising social media accounts and ANZRP and its brand’s websites; reinstating ANZRP’s bimonthly eNewsletter; and developing monthly blog posts. Currie also built a member toolkit to help grow the value ANZRP provided its members, and give its members critical tools to talk about e-stewardship and their relationship with ANZRP.
Currie’s holistic support and service of ANZRP helped re-establish external communications activities and created increased voice within industry.
On ANZRP’s digital platforms, an increase of engagement was seen across the board. Reach on LinkedIn alone saw an increase of over 160% in the first year of Currie’s involvement.
Implementing foundational communications processes have enabled ANZRP to eventually bring many services in-house following an expansion of the organisation’s internal capacity.
Currie is proud to continue to work with ANZRP to support their work in the e-waste and product stewardship sector.
