Landcare Victoria Inc. supports community-led action to protect and restore ecosystems and make agriculture more sustainable. It is the peak body for more than 600 groups and tens of thousands of volunteers – making it one of the largest environmental volunteer organisations in Victoria.
Landcare Victoria needed to develop an inspiring yet achievable strategic plan to guide its work over the next three years, protecting and enhancing Victoria’s natural environment.
The plan needed to set a path to strengthen the organisation and the support it offers the broader Landcare community, especially in its delivery on the 10-year Landcare Plan for Victoria 2023-2033. Reflecting the diversity of groups, organisations and projects that make up Landcare Victoria, this project required genuine engagement and collaboration with the CEO and 13-member Board.
We guided the Landcare Victoria Board through a three-phase development of an ambitious yet actionable strategic plan.
In the initial discover phase, we established the groundwork for the project and identified the organisation’s priorities for the future. We undertook a deep review of materials and captured insights from the Board, staff and key stakeholders. This phase culminated in facilitating a Board workshop to review the current strategy; define parameters for strategic planning process; and agree on considerations for building the strategy.
In the design phase, a second workshop with the Board and CEO shaped priorities and overarching themes. We managed activities to ensure that all the 13 Board members were heard and the common threads identified. We guided the group towards consensus for a strategic plan that will take the organisation forward. Key to this was working towards an agreement on a bold goal they could all get behind.
In the delivery phase, we worked closely with the Board working group and CEO to finesse and finalise the Strategic Plan.
Walking alongside the Board, we helped craft a bold and actionable Strategic Plan for Landcare Victoria, balancing ambition with feasibility. This plan is set to drive a significant increase in Landcare volunteers statewide while advancing the Landcare Plan for Victoria 2023-2033. It will not only protect and enhance the natural environment but also build stronger, more resilient communities across the state.
