Having impact, together: Currie’s pro bono year in review

At Currie, we believe in the power of purposeful partnerships. Each year, our pro bono program gives us the opportunity to collaborate with impactful organisations doing great work. FY2025 was no exception – our team provided over $100,000 of pro bono support to organisations working across agriculture, environment and regional resilience. The result? Tangible outcomes, new relationships, and meaningful progress across sectors we care deeply about.

This year, we supported eight standout projects. These projects were chosen not only for their alignment with Currie’s values and skillsets, but also for their potential to create lasting impact.

Strategic planning for Landcare Victoria Inc

Our work with Landcare Victoria Inc involved developing a new Strategic Plan for 2025–2028. We guided the Landcare Victoria Board through a three-phase process that included stakeholder surveys, planning workshops and support for the launch of the Plan.

The outcome? A refreshed roadmap for one of Victoria’s most influential environmental organisations.

Supporting agrivoltaics innovation

We partnered with Western Sydney University and Growing Goulburn to support Agrisolar AU’s Agrivoltaics CRC bid. Currie provided editing services and strategic introductions for the initial submission, which has progressed to Stage 2.

We eagerly await news as to whether the very worthy bid will be successful!

Elevating water on the climate agenda

Working with the Australian Water Partnership, we developed a communications toolkit aimed at raising the profile of water as a climate priority in the lead-up to COP29, and Australia’s bid to co-host COP31 with Pacific nations.

The toolkit was shaped by international stakeholder feedback and messaging that would ensure longevity beyond COP31.

Building resilience in NSW’s Riverina Region

Currie partnered with The Next Economy to support the Hay Shire Council as it laid the groundwork for establishing a Resilient Economy Roadmap for Hay. Our contribution included a communications strategy and content development.

Hay Shire Council now serves as a model for inclusive, locally driven transition planning.

Developing a Code of Practice for Corner Inlet’s commercial fishers

Our collaboration with Seafood Industry Victoria saw Currie produce a draft Code of Practice (CoP) for fisheries management in Corner Inlet.

To develop the CoP we facilitated a workshop with industry and also provided advice on socialising the new CoP with local fishers.

Promoting environmental accounting with AIA

Working with Agricultural Innovation Australia (AIA), we provided strategy and communications support for their Environmental Accounting Platform (EAP), as well as undertaking interviews with users of the EAP to develop a case study.

AIA has since received Federal Government funding to support the rollout of the EAP, which is delivering a much-needed cross-sectoral carbon footprint solution.

Building community for the Little Food Festival

Currie was proud to again support the Sandro Demaio Foundation’s Little Food Festival (LFF) in its 7th year by developing and implementing a social media strategy for the Festival.

Creating content, interacting with community and working with LFF partners, we delivered impressive results across LFF’s social media channels, fostering a community of engaged followers and increasing on-the-day foot traffic to the Festival.

Backing the Banksia Awards

Currie has been a longtime supporter of the Banksia Foundation, who have recognised and awarded sustainability-focused organisations in Australia for over 35 years through the National Banksia Sustainability Awards.

We also developed a stakeholder engagement strategy to assist in securing supporters and funders for Banksia’s future.

Looking ahead

We’re proud of what we achieved this year. Our pro bono work continues to be a cornerstone of our commitment to purpose-driven communications, and our process of selection continues to evolve. Thank you to all our partners for trusting us with your vision.

Stay tuned to find out what’s next for our pro bono program in FY2026.
